Oh Miami, you are so good with your beaming sun rays and cool breeze. Today was the perfect day to go to the beach or lounge outside and soak up the sun. I miss wearing spaghetti straps! Summer is around the corner and I’m excited.

Is Being Called ‘Too Skinny’ The Same As Being Called ‘Too Fat’?

Young Kendall Jenner gets constantly criticized for being “too skinny”. The 17 year old model stated this in the recent issue of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia.

I personally follow the Kardashians on Facebook and when I see a picture of the young Jenner girls, I see for myself the numerous comments Kendall gets for being very thin.

Whether you think Kendall is extremely thin or just fine, it’s your opinion and a stranger’s thoughts shouldn’t matter to her but I understand how comments from the people you’re around everyday can affect you– such as your parents, a romantic partner, etc.

I don’t know what it’s like to be skinny and I don’t believe I ever will, but I have been called too fat constantly by parents, relatives, classmates, some guy who had a crush on me (WTF right?), and once by an elementary school nurse when I was nine years Hearing the same negative comment all the time can piss you off and stay in your mind for a long time.  It’s like a form of bullying! I can see how Kendall might feel. Eventually you would want to change to shut people up but unfortunately for Kendall she claims,

“I’m trying to gain weight but my body won’t let it happen. What people don’t understand is that calling someone too skinny is the same as calling someone too fat. It’s not a nice feeling.” (E! Online)

Negativity is so annoying.Only a strong person can fight it. All I can say about her & her situation is that she is a beautiful, tall, and sweet young woman who will definitely be successful and find the perfect partner who loves her body in every way. I can tell that her family loves and supports her. Haters and opinionated people are out there, but they’re irrelevant.

Keep Your Hair Strong and Your Skin Beautiful

Is your hair breaking off? Too thin? Grows too slow?

On the average, my hair grows very slow and if I don’t keep it moisturized, it will break off. I believe for my hair texture if you do little to nothing to it, it will grow a lot faster. Two ways that I make my hair grow strong and fast is keep it completely braided for months while I wear sew-ins and take biotin supplements.

20130326-225626.jpg The biotin supplements I take are from Walgreens and cost about $16. They are sugar free, gluten free, lactose free, have no preservatives and no artificial color or flavor. I saw stronger nails in 2 weeks and my hair grew about an inch pretty quickly too. My face began to break out! I guess that’s how the supplements works. After a couple of days, the pimples cleared up and now my face looks beautiful without makeup. Every 5 to 6 weeks I’ll get my hair re-braided.
I can’t wait to show you all a before and after picture! This method is great.

A New Kind of Breakfast

I never have decent time to have breakfast in the morning so I discovered this new protein meal replacement shake that is only 110 calories, gluten and lactose free, has very low fat, and tastes great!

Evolve protein shakes are my new weight loss friend because it contains tonalin which reduces body fat. I take it with me and drink along the way I go to class. They subside your hunger for a while so no complaints. You can even use it to replace your lunch meal. Just make sure to snack on something healthy in between.

Also, water is a huge factor for my weight loss journey but sometimes I want something sweet to drink but I obviously can’t have sugar.

Similar to Mio, Dasani Drops gives your water sweet flavor without the calories and sugar. I also use Crystal Light for my sweet tooth days.
And if I ever crave for soda, I would take some already made fruit punch Crystal Light and add seltzer water. I occasionally drink diet soda but I know how harmful those are… Supposedly.

My Favorite Relaxed Hair Products

My hair is not natural nor do I plan to go natural any time soon. So I have four hair products for relaxed hair that never stir me wrong when it comes to heat defense, moisture, or my healthy edges.

Cantu Shea Butter Flat Iron Spray

This product not only protects your hair from heat but it holds your hair like a holding spray. It’s great for leftover hair when you have a full head of weave.

Profectiv Mega Growth

I’ve used this for years. This creamy product keeps your hair very moisturized and strong.  The only bad thing is that it weighs down your hair; makes it look wet. So blow dry your hair after you apply for quick styling.

Hicks Transformations: Smooth Edges

I prefer this over Organic Root Stimulator’s Edge Control because the product is less rough and hard on my delicate edges but holds very well, even if I need a root touch-up. This is good for natural hair as well.

Olive Oil Serum

Oil is great for my hair because I have very dry scalp. I need to moisturize everyday or my hair will break. So serums that protect against heat are the best way to go.

Along with biotin supplements, I don’t see why your relaxed and healthy hair shouldn’t grow long and strong. If you have a favorite hair product, let me know!
